Regular Season Round 22: Coruna - Castello 76-83

The most shocking disappointment of round 22 was a home defeat of 7th ranked Leyma Basquet (11-11) to eighth ranked Castello (12-10) 83-76. It ended the three-game winning streak of Leyma Basquet. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Point guard Joan Faner (176-90) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American-Nigerian forward Zimmy Nwogbo (201-91, college: Cedarville, agency: Duran International) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Georgian Beka Burjanadze (202-94) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castello moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Burgos. Leyma Basquet at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Castello is looking forward to face Leche Rio Breogan (#11) in Lugo in the next round where they are favorite. Leyma Basquet will play on the road against Lobe Huesca (#3) and is hoping to win this game.
