Leading Bucaneros (15-6) recorded its sixth loss in La Guaira. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Gaiteros (8-10) 75-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bucaneros. Bucaneros were ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 25-17 third quarter run of Gaiteros. Bucaneros were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American center Jeral Davis (216-84, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Elvis Baez (189-89) helped adding 15 points and 5 assists. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Dominican guard Juan Coronado (193-83) scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gaiteros maintains seventh place with 8-10 record. Bucaneros at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. Gaiteros will play against Panteras (#8) in Caracas in the next round. Bucaneros will play at home against Guaiqueries (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.
