Regular Season Round 19: Roanne - Denain 85-77

An interesting game took place in Roanne where higher ranked Denain Voltaire (9-10) was upset on the court of sixteenth ranked Chorale de Roanne (8-11) 85-77 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 32-25. But Denain Voltaire won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Yannis Morin (208-93) produced 9 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Denain Voltaire's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chorale de Roanne moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Denain Voltaire dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Nantes and Charleville. Chorale de Roanne will meet league's leader Hyeres-Toulon on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Denain Voltaire will play against Le Portel (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
