Regular Season Round 42: Pioneros - Fuerza Regia 91-81

An interesting game for Pioneros (34-4) which hosted in Cancun one of their biggest challengers Fuerza Regia (22-17). Second ranked Pioneros managed to get a 10-point victory 91-81. Pioneros made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) who led his team to a victory with 26 points. International guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Bo Spencer (185-89, college: Nebraska) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pioneros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 34-4 record having 3 victories less than leader Soles. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the third place with 17 games lost. Pioneros are looking forward to face Abejas (#6) in Guanajuato in the next round. Fuerza Regia will play at home against Santos and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
