KL Dragons stepped closer to the Finals edging Saigon Heat in the opener. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when KL Dragons's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-16 extending their advantage to 16 points. KL Dragons outrebounded Saigon Heat 50-30 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American center Reggie Johnson (208-89, college: Miami, FL, agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 23 rebounds for the winners and Canadian guard Matthew Wright (193-91, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds.
