Regular Season Round 19: Balkan - Beroe 72-80

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Balkan (15-4) against fourth ranked Beroe (13-6) on Saturday night. Host Balkan was defeated by Beroe in a tough game in Botevgrad 72-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Balkan. The game without a history. Beroe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Beroe forced 19 Balkan turnovers. Balkan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian power forward Aleksandar Todorovic (206-87) who helped to win the game recording 18 points. American point guard Ashton Moore (183-93, college: Citadel) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Marko Brkic (206-82, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Martin Marinov (191-85, agency: 011 Sports) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Balkan. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beroe moved-up to third place, which they share with Rilski. Balkan at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Beroe will play against Yambol (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Balkan will play against Rilski (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
