Regular Season Round 19: Royal Hali - Banvit BK 83-81

A very close game took place in Gaziantep (derby !!!) between Royal Hali and Banvit BK. Tenth ranked Royal Hali (9-10) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Banvit BK (11-8). Royal Hali managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Saturday evening. Royal Hali looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Bulgarian guard Earl Calloway (191-83, college: Indiana) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Can Ugur Ogut (178-92) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Jackie Carmichael (206-90, college: Illinois St., agency: Priority Sports) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Courtney Fortson (180-88, college: Arkansas, agency: Beo Basket) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Royal Hali moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Besiktas. Loser Banvit BK dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Royal Hali will meet higher ranked Demir IBB (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Banvit BK will play against the league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker having rather not much hope for a victory.
