There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Zornotza (8-12) beat on the road higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (11-9) 76-71 on Sunday. Meridiano Alicante was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zornotza made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Point guard Iker Salazar (192-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Arturo Cruz (180-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Zornotza players scored in double figures. American guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: HMS) replied with 16 points and point guard Adrian Fuentes (183-87) added 9 points and 5 assists in the effort for Meridiano Alicante. Meridiano Alicante's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Zornotza moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Cambados. Meridiano Alicante lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Zornotza will face higher ranked Sammic ISB (#4) in Azpeitia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
