Regular Season Round 25: Angers BC - Maurienne 83-89

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Aix-Maurienne (17-8) beat on the road 8th ranked Angers BC (12-13) 89-83 on Friday. Naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) stepped up and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and point guard Aurelien Rigaux (176-88) chipped in 20 points and 8 assists. Four Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Hugo Suhard (184-92) scored 21 points and 4 assists. Angers BC's coach Vincent Lavandier tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to second place, which they share with Lourdes. Loser Angers BC dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Aix-Maurienne will face Vitre (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Angers BC will play against the league's leader ADA Blois (#1) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
