Regular Season Round 21: Cantbasket - Zarautz 83-63

Date: March 5, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Santander where 14th ranked Zarautz (3-14) was rolled over by sixth ranked Cantbasket (9-7) 83-63 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cantbasket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Cantbasket outrebounded Zarautz 42-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Cantbasket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Iker Lizarriturri (194-78) with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Unai Eizaguirre (182-88) scored 12 points and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantbasket maintains sixth place in Group A-A with 9-7 record. Zarautz lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Cantbasket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santander to the arena Estela.
