Second Stage Round 6: Barreirense - Esgueira 66-72

Everything could happen in Barreiro at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Esgueira / Oli and 11th ranked Barreirense had identical 6-4 record. But Barreirense was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Esgueira 72-66 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Esgueira / Oli forced 20 Barreirense turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Point guard Pedro Valente (175-85) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Miguel Oliveira (195-94) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Esgueira / Oli players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Daniel Margarido (191-92) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and guard Alexandre Coelho (178-90) scored 18 points and 7 assists. Esgueira / Oli (7-4) moved-up to ninth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Belenenses CF. Newly promoted Barreirense dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Esgueira / Oli is looking forward to face Belenenses CF (#10) in Lisboa in the next round. Barreirense will play at home against Guifoes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
