Twelfth-ranked Tsukuba R. (6-34) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Dragonflies (13-25). The visitors from Hiroshima managed to secure only nine-point victory 88-79. However their fans expected easier game. Tsukuba R. was ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Dragonflies, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-9. The best player for the winners was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, college: Washington) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Dragonflies maintains ninth place with 13-25 record. Tsukuba R. at the other side stay dead last with 34 lost games. Dragonflies' next round opponent will be higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
