Regular Season Round 44: Iwate Big Bulls - Sendai 89ers 73-75

Sixth-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (21-17) gave a tough game to third ranked Sendai 89ers (27-13) on Sunday. The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-15. But Iwate Big Bulls won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Alandise Harris (198-90, college: Arkansas) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers keep a position of league leader. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth place with 17 games lost. Sendai 89ers will meet at home Saitama Broncos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
