Second Stage Round 12: Telsiai - Perlas-MRU 75-67

Another interesting game for Telsiai (15-22) which hosted in Telsiu against 4th ranked Perlas-MRU (19-17). Seventh ranked Telsiai won 75-67. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Telsiai dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas-MRU's 24. Perlas-MRU was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Laurynas Kaveckis (190-90) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) who added 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Telsiai players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) with 23 points and 9 rebounds and guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Telsiai maintains seventh position with 15-22 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Palanga. Telsiai will play against higher ranked Zalgiris II (#6) in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Mazeikiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
