Second Stage Round 7: Ginasio - Barreirense 75-77 OT

Barreirense (7-5) escaped against Ginasio (6-5) in overtime by two points 77-75 on Saturday night. The game took place in Figueira da Foz. But the guests from Barreiro were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ginasio won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Ginasio used huge pressure winning it 15-11 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-9. Swingman Daniel Margarido (191-92) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Alexandre Coelho (178-90) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Marco Goncalves (206-84) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds and the former international guard Jose Costa (187-73) added 24 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Barreirense moved-up to tenth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Belenenses CF. Loser Ginasio dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Barreirense will face Sampaense (#14) in Coimbra in the next round. Ginasio will play at home against Belenenses CF and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
