Regular Season Round 26: Quimper - Caen 68-56

An interesting game where host Quimper UJAP (#8) won against 5th ranked Caen 68-56 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Quimper UJAP. Caen managed to win second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Caen outrebounded Quimper UJAP 41-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Quimper UJAP's coach Laurent Foirest used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fabien Ateba (192-91) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Calasan (204-85, college: Purdue) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Quimper UJAP have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 14-12 record. Newly promoted Caen dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with GET Vosges. Quimper UJAP will meet Berck (#17) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caen will play against the league's second-placed Lourdes-Tarbes (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
