Regular Season Round 45: Niigata Albirex - Akita NH 79-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Akita Happinets (26-13) against fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (27-14) on Saturday night. Visiting Akita Happinets were defeated by Niigata Albirex in a tough game in Niigata 71-79. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 21-18 Akita Happinets' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 79-71 at the end of the game. Niigata Albirex players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for international center Pape Faye (200-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. International guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) answered with 21 points and 4 assists and American swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. Five Niigata Albirex and four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex moved-up to third place. Akita Happinets at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Niigata Albirex will again play against Akita Happinets (#4) at home in the next round. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
