Regular Season Round 23: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Hapoel T-A 101-80
Date: March 12, 2016
Very expected game in Hod Hasharon where 9th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (10-14) was rolled over by fourth ranked Bnei Hasharon (13-10) 101-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bnei Hasharon. Hapoel Tel-Aviv managed to win fourth quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bnei Hasharon dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Tel-Aviv's 46. Bnei Hasharon looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bnei Hasharon made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for Aviram Zelkovits (192-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) helped adding 17 points and 4 assists. The former international center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Four Bnei Hasharon and five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bnei Hasharon maintains fourth place with 13-10 record. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will meet Hapoel Holon (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Maccabi Rishon and hope to secure a win.
