Regular Season Round 46: Niigata Albirex - Akita NH 81-70

An interesting game for Niigata Albirex (28-14) which hosted in Niigata one of their biggest challengers Akita Happinets (26-14). Third ranked Niigata Albirex managed to get a 11-point victory 81-70. The game was mostly controlled by Niigata Albirex. Akita Happinets managed to win third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Niigata Albirex won last quarter 19-10. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex maintains third position with 28-14 record behind leader Shimane SM, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Akita Happinets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 14 games lost. Niigata Albirex is looking forward to face league's second-placed Toyama Grouses on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Akita Happinets will play against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
