Regular Season Round 21: Artego Bydg. - Gdynia 82-67

Not a big story in a game in Bydgoszcz where 5th ranked Gdynia (13-8) was defeated by second ranked Artego Bydg. (17-4) 82-67 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Artego Bydg.. Gdynia managed to win fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Artego Bydg. forced 24 Gdynia turnovers. The best player for the winners was international point guard Julie McBride (165-82, college: Syracuse) who scored 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Jamaican-American point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Artego Bydg. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists and the other American import center Marie Malone (189-89, college: Hofstra) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Artego Bydg. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-4 record behind leader Wisla Krakow. Loser Gdynia keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Artego Bydg. will meet league's leader Wisla Krakow on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gdynia will play against MKK Siedlce (#10) and hope to secure a win.
