Regular Season Round 24: PGE Turow - Asseco 91-83

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Zgorzelec where ninth ranked PGE Turow (14-12) won against 8th ranked Asseco (13-11) 91-83. It looked good early as Asseco took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then PGE Turow had a 22-17 second period charge getting the lead and Asseco was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-91. PGE Turow made 28-of-32 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Asseco only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Asseco 46-31 including 37 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Asseco helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Australian-Trinidad and Tobago guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four PGE Turow players scored in double figures. Swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) replied with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: Oklahoma St.) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Asseco. Asseco's coach Tane Spasev let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. PGE Turow have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Asseco at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. PGE Turow's next round opponent will be higher ranked Wilki Morskie (#7) in Szczecin and it may be quite challenging game. Asseco will play on the road against AZS Koszalin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
