Regular Season Round 23: Nantes - Boulogne 80-76

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Nantes (11-12) beat at home higher ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (14-10) 80-76 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But SO Maritime Boulogne won third quarter 24-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Valentin Bigote (196-92, agency: Comsport) chipped in 22 points. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Nantes' coach Franck Collineau allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Xavier Corosine (183-85) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Nantes moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Vichy Clermont and Boulazac. Loser SO Maritime Boulogne keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Nantes will face higher ranked JL Bourg (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SO Maritime Boulogne will play against Lille Metropole and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
