Very predictable result in Leverkusen where second ranked SC Rasta Vechta (24-3) smashed 15th ranked Bayer Giants (7-22) 89-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. SC Rasta Vechta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 26 and made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. SC Rasta Vechta forced 21 Bayer Giants turnovers and outrebounded them 46-27 including a 46-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Filipino forward Christian Standhardinger (203-89, college: Hawaii) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 13 points. Four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. American forward James Hulbin (203-90, college: Northwestern St.) responded with 17 points and the other American import guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for SC Rasta Vechta. They maintain second place with 24-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Jena. Loser Bayer Giants keep the fifteenth position with 22 games lost. SC Rasta Vechta will face White Wings (#10) in Hanau in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
