Regular Season Round 22: Gdynia - MKK Siedlce 88-83

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Gdynia (14-8) defeated at home 10th ranked MKK Siedlce (5-17) 88-83. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as MKK Siedlce took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gdynia had a 28-12 second period charge getting the lead and MKK Siedlce was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-88. Gdynia made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) notched 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import center Paris Johnson (193-89, college: San Diego St.) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Gdynia's coach Katarzyna Dydek allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by forward Magdalena Koperwas (177-93) did not help to save the game for MKK Siedlce. Center Magdalena Parysek (186-89, agency: Promotex) added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Five Gdynia and four MKK Siedlce players scored in double figures. Gdynia maintains fifth position with 14-8 record. MKK Siedlce at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost.
