Regular Season Round 23: Cazorla - San Fernando 101-97

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed San Fernando (5-5) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Cazorla (5-5) 101-97 on Saturday. Cazorla forced 24 San Fernando turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Reco McCarter (198-90, college: Campbell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-83) helped adding 23 points and 8 rebounds. Four Cazorla players scored in double figures. Center Juan Antonio Rodriguez-Guerra (200-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and Daniel Tugores (185-95) scored 21 points. San Fernando's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cazorla moved-up to fourth place in Group D Clasif, which they share with defeated San Fernando. San Fernando lost third consecutive game. Cazorla will face league's leader Badajoz on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Fernando will play against Velez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
