Pioneros held off Fuerza Regia to gain a firm control in the semifinal series at 2-0. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-78. 25 personal fouls committed by Fuerza Regia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) replied with 25 points and 5 rebounds and Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) added 17 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
