The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Guaros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Guaros edged 3rd ranked Trotamundos in Barquisimeto 83-81. Trotamundos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 18 points during the contest. The former international Dwight Lewis (197-87, college: USC) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Trotamundos at the other side keep the third place with 16 games lost. Trotamundos will play next round against strong Gigantes trying to get back on the winning streak. Guaros will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Cocodrilos in Caracas.
