Regular Season Round 49: Okinawa GK - Shiga L-Stars 98-86

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Okinawa GK as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Okinawa GK defeated 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars at home 98-86. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Shiga L-Stars. It looked good early as Shiga L-Stars took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Okinawa GK had a 33-16 second period charge getting the lead and Shiga L-Stars were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-98. Okinawa GK made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Okinawa GK outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 44-28 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. Okinawa GK's coach Tsutomu Isa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 17 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Okinawa GK (33-10) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Shiga L-Stars at the other side keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Okinawa GK will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars at home.
