Regular Season Round 49: Shinshu BW - Gunma 90-64

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Gunma (19-24) was outleveled by seventh ranked Shinshu BW (22-23) in Nagano 90-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-64. Shinshu BW forced 19 Gunma turnovers and had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu BW made 7 blocks. Gunma was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated also this game. Quite impressive performance for power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) answered with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami, FL, agency: Inception Sports) added 6 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shinshu BW. They maintain seventh place with 22-23 record. Gunma lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 24 games lost. Shinshu BW will face again Gunma (#9) at home in the next round.
