Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Kumamoto V. (13-30) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (18-25) 74-70 on Saturday. Kumamoto V. was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Mitsubishi Dolphins, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Kumamoto V. outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 47-29 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) stepped up and scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach Reggie Geary used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mitsubishi Dolphins. They maintain eighth place with 18-25 record. Kumamoto V. at the other side keeps the tenth position with 30 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face higher ranked Chiba Jets (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kumamoto V. will play against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex having rather not much hope for a victory.
