Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (32-11) against fourth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (30-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Kyoto Hannar. was defeated by Hamamatsu Phoenix in a tough game in Mikawa 57-65. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-13. But Kyoto Hannar. won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: Inception Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Toshihumi Kawamitsu (188-90) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) added 5 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Kyoto Hannar. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hamamatsu Phoenix. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Loser Kyoto Hannar. dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will again meet at home Kyoto Hannar. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round.
