Regular Season Round 49: Sendai 89ers - Aomori Watts 101-86

BJ League top team - Sendai 89ers (32-13) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Aomori Watts (20-25) 101-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aomori Watts. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Aomori Watts was better in fourth quarter 34-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Aomori Watts' 48. They outrebounded Aomori Watts 43-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) answered with 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Aomori Watts. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They maintain first place with 32-13 record. Loser Aomori Watts keep the eighth position with 25 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face again Aomori Watts (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
