Herner overwhelmed Halle in the opener. The game without a history. Herner TC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to SV Halle Lions' 24 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Herner TC forced 20 SV Halle Lions turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by SV Halle Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Whitney Boddie (173-87, college: Auburn) fired 19 points and 4 steals for the winners. The former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Belarusian point guard Alexandra Tarasava (171-88) produced 23 points and American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
