An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Porlamar. First ranked Marinos faced 3rd placed Guaiqueries. Guests from Puerto La Cruz (21-11) defeated host Guaiqueries (16-16) 83-76. Guaiqueries were ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of Marinos, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Juan Herrera (197-81) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) came up with 31 points and 7 rebounds and Dominican Victor Liz (188-86) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Guaiqueries in the defeat. Guaiqueries' coach Curro Segura let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-11 record. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the third position with 16 games lost. Marinos' next round opponent will be league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guaiqueries will play on the road against Panteras in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
