Regular Season Round 27: Caceres - Coruna 69-85

Very expected game when 9th ranked Caceres Basket (13-14) lost at home to fifth ranked Leyma Basquet (15-12) 85-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Leyma Basquet. Caceres Basket was better in second period 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leyma Basquet made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Leyma Basquet had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Leyma Basquet especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. It was a good game for center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Ben Stelzer (185-93, college: Michigan Tech) contributed with 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. Leyma Basquet's coach Tito Diaz used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Center Victor Serrano (211-89) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Rolandas Jakstas (202-92) added 19 points in the effort for Caceres Basket. Leyma Basquet moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Penas Huesca and Oviedo. Newly promoted Caceres Basket dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Leyma Basquet will face FC Barcelona II (#8) at home in the next round. Caceres Basket will play against Leche Rio Breogan in Lugo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
