Very expected game in Tel-Aviv where 8th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-14) was crushed by second ranked Maccabi T-A (17-8) 91-72. It was a very good performance for international point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists. Naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) contributed with 13 points for the winners. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 25 points in the effort for Maccabi Ashdod. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maccabi T-A maintains second place with 17-8 record having just two points less than leader Hapoel J-M. Maccabi Ashdod lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost.
