The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Batumi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Batumi smashed 7th ranked Olimpi at home 86-63. The game without a history. Batumi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Batumi outrebounded Olimpi 47-27 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for Ukrainian forward Leonid Stefanishin (199-85) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Batumi's coach Davit Ustiashvili felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. British V.Islands forward Leslie Smith (203-91, college: Nebraska) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Jeremy Bynum (193-88, college: Jacksonville St.) added 16 points in the effort for Olimpi. Batumi have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Olimpi lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. Olimpi will play next round against Mgzavrebi trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena of Mgzavrebi. Batumi will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Energy Invest at Rustavi.
