Regular Season Round 25: St Chamond - Boulazac 81-90

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Boulazac Basket (13-12) beat on the road 13th ranked Saint Chamond (10-15) 90-81 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Saint Chamond won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Boulazac Basket made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Boulazac Basket outrebounded Saint Chamond 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Boulazac Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Aurelien Salmon (202-87) chipped in 27 points. At the losing side American guard Dustin Salisbery (193-84, college: Temple) responded with 16 points and 6 assists and guard Matthieu Guichard (188-88) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Four Boulazac Basket and five Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Boulazac Basket maintains eighth place with 13-12 record. Newly promoted Saint Chamond dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Boulazac Basket will face higher ranked JL Bourg (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saint Chamond will play against Provence Basket (#6) in Fos-sur-Mer and hope to win that game.
