Sixth-ranked Shiga L-Stars (28-16) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Kyoto Hannar. (35-11) on Sunday. The visitors from Kyoto managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected easier game. Shiga L-Stars cut a 19-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists. The other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) added 25 points in the effort for Shiga L-Stars.
