Regular Season Round 41: Cocodrilos - Panteras 94-85

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Cocodrilos (#1) and Panteras (#4). Cocodrilos (20-14) won against visiting Panteras (13-21) 94-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Panteras. Panteras were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 27-13 third quarter run of Cocodrilos. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Cocodrilos brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) answered with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Curtis Withers (203-84, college: Charlotte) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Panteras. Five Cocodrilos and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Cocodrilos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-14 record. Panteras at the other side keep the fourth position with 21 games lost. Cocodrilos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Panteras.
