Regular Season Round 41: Trotamundos - Gaiteros 94-92

Fifth-ranked Gaiteros (12-20) gave a tough game to third ranked Trotamundos (18-16) in Valencia. Trotamundos managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gaiteros won third quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trotamundos made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) nailed 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and point guard Alexander Morillo (180-92) accounted for 17 points and 11 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Trotamundos players scored in double figures. Trotamundos' coach Jesus Cordovez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Dominican guard O'Darien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) came up with 40 points (!!!) and American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Gaiteros in the defeat. Trotamundos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 18-16 record having just two points less than leader Marinos. Gaiteros at the other side keep the fifth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Gigantes. Trotamundos will again play against Gaiteros (#5) in Maracaibo in the next round. Gaiteros will have a break next round.
