Important game to mention about took place in Kutaisi. Second ranked Kutaisi (16-9) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Sokhumi (14-11) 68-67 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sokhumi. Sokhumi was ahead by 10 points at the halftime before a 26-5 third quarter run of Kutaisi. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sokhumi to just 5 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Sokhumi 61-33 including a 26-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashaev (188-83) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side international Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Kutaisi maintains second place with 16-9 record behind leader Batumi. Sokhumi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Kutaisi will play against Olimpi (#7) in Tbilisi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
