Second Stage Round 4: Moutahed - Hoops 68-54

The game between Top Four teams took place in Tripoli. Second ranked host Al Moutahed (12-8) defeated one of their biggest challengers Hoops Club (9-11) 68-54. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Al Moutahed's pressure prevailed and they won that period 16-7 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hoops Club to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Al Moutahed players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. International swingman Omar El Ayoubi (196-91) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and the former international swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 20 points in the effort for Hoops Club. Hoops Club's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Moutahed maintains second position with 12-8 record behind leader Al Riyadi, which they share with Tadamon. Hoops Club lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with 11 games lost. Al Moutahed's next round opponent will be league's leader Al Riyadi in Beirut and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hoops Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
