There was no surprise when 12th ranked Tsukuba R. (7-42) lost to sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (27-22) in Saporro 67-80 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-67. Hokkaido L. made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Hokkaido L. had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, college: Washington) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) added 7 points and 10 assists in the effort for Tsukuba R.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
