Regular Season Round 4: Bucaros - Condores 76-91

The biggest surprise of round 4 was guest Condores' (3-1) easy road victory over much higher ranked Bucaros (2-2) 91-76 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) fired a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Byron Westmorland (193-90, college: Bowie St.) chipped in 25 points. Venezuelan forward Luis Almanza (196-91) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and Miguel Bermudez added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bucaros' coach Bernardo Gonzalez rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Condores keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cimarrones and Academia. Bucaros at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Halcones and Aguilas. Condores is looking forward to face Sabios (#7) in Manizales in the next round where they are favorite. Bucaros will play on the road against Halcones in Cucuta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
