Regular Season Round 54: Shinshu BW - Niigata Albirex 85-76

There was a minor upset in Nagano where 4th ranked Niigata Albirex (31-17) was defeated by seventh ranked Shinshu BW (24-24) 85-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Niigata Albirex won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Yosuke Saito (184-85) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St.) who recorded 31 points and 5 rebounds and Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Shinshu BW maintains seventh position with 24-24 record. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost. Shinshu BW will face higher ranked Iwate Big Bulls (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Niigata Albirex will play against Gunma and hope to win that game.
