Regular Season Round 5: Willetton T. - Geraldton B. 112-88

Date: April 10, 2016
There was a surprise result in Willetton where seventh ranked Tigers (3-3) outleveled second-ranked Buccaneers (3-3) 112-88 on Sunday. Tigers forced 19 Buccaneers turnovers. Strangely Buccaneers outrebounded Tigers 60-45 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Buccaneers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 11 blocks. Guard Damien Scott (190-92) stepped up and scored 45 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) chipped in 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Carter Cook (196-89, college: USC Upstate) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Four Tigers and five Buccaneers players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Tigers went down to eighth position (League) due to points difference. Tigers will face Magic (#13) in Mandurah in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Buccaneers will play at home against Flames (#3) and hope to win that game.
