Regular Season Round 29: Goettingen - EWE Baskets 74-79

Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked BG Goettingen (7-22) was defeated at home by third ranked EWE Baskets (22-6) 79-74. It looked good early as BG Goettingen took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then EWE Baskets had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and BG Goettingen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-79. EWE Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Power forward Harper Kamp (203-88, college: California) answered with 23 points and forward Ian Hummer (201-90, college: Princeton) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for BG Goettingen. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for EWE Baskets. They maintain third place with 22-6 record having four points less than leader Brose Bask. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the sixteenth position with 22 games lost. EWE Baskets' next round opponent will be league's leader Brose Baskets in Bamberg and it will be for sure the game of the week. BG Goettingen will play on the road against Braunschweig (#10) in Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
