Regular Season Round 27: Chiba Jets - Tochigi Brex 66-78

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Tochigi Brex (38-8) defeated on the road 8th ranked Chiba Jets (20-27) 78-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Chiba Jets was better in fourth quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Tochigi Brex outrebounded Chiba Jets 37-21 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) answered with 22 points and the other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chiba Jets. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tochigi Brex have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 38-8 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Chiba Jets lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 27 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) in Tokyo in the next round. Chiba Jets will play on the road against the league's leader Toyota Alvark (#1) in Tokyo and hope to win that game.
