Regular Season Round 27: Le Portel - Lille 62-69

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Le Portel (16-11) against twelfth ranked Lille Metropole (13-14) on Tuesday night. Host Le Portel was defeated by Lille Metropole in a tough game in Le Portel 62-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Le Portel. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 21-6 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Lille Metropole dominated on the defensive end, holding Le Portel to just 6 points in third quarter. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kelsey Barlow (196-91, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and guard Jessie Begarin (191-88, agency: Court Side) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Le Portel in the defeat. Lille Metropole moved-up to tenth place. Loser Le Portel keeps the third position with 11 games lost. They share it with Provence Basket and Bourg. Lille Metropole will meet league's leader Hyeres-Toulon on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Le Portel will play against the league's second-placed ALM Evreux where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
